This is a 1982 R65LS that I have had for over 25 years. My son, who was and still is in the military, came accrossed it in Texas. It was in rough shape but the price was fair, so he asked me if I wanted to buy it to restore. I said sure and he hauled it up here to Wis. It would start up and run but I figured needed a lot of engine work, so it sat in my shop until last fall when I decided to make it my winter hobby. As I was working on it I could tell that it has not been down or in a wreck but it was neglected. There wasn't much normal up keep done to it. So I started by installing a different engine that I bought from a friend. It was also from an '82 LS. It started right up and was running good, so I restarted it and let if run for a while and noticed blue smoke exiting the right cylinder. The left one was just fine. I tore it down and in the process of reassembly, checked the rods for any possible play. Finding none, examined the cylinder barrels and found no scores, scratches but just beautiful mirror finish walls. Ireplaced the rings on both pistons with a new standard size set. I examined the heads, valve guides and valves for anyplay but found none. I hand lapped the valves so I knew they were sealing. I reassembled the engine, started it up and in amatter of seconds there was clean, clear exhaust. So now I knew the engine was good. I continued to change the lubricants in the engine, transmission, driveshaft swing arm, final drive and appropriate filters. I installed a K&N air filter that eliminates ever having to buy another. It's good for about 60 thousand miles on paved surfaces before it should be removed, cleaned and reoiled then put back in. There were no brakes at all on the bike. The previous owner replaced the brake shoes but they didn't work because they were the standard size for the regular R65. They were too small for the LS. I had to order a new set for the R65LS and when I installed them, there was good contact with the brake drum. It had no front wheel brakes because for some reason or other the brake lever was removed. The pads were in great condition with only about 22 thousand miles on them. So after purchasing a new lever, flushing the system out, replenishing the brake fluid, they worked fine. I removed the triple tree, washed out the steering head bearings, repacked them and reassembled the steering head. Replaced the fork slider seals, drained the fork oil and replenished with new. So, now with a brand new set of Continental (ContiGo) tires, new battery, a good set of BMW mirrors, it was ready to go, so I thought. It seemed to run well but I could not get it to idle. I removed the carbs and made sure they were clean but I still could't get it to idle. Having limited test equipment I decided to take it in to the dealer and have his shop mechanics check it out for me. They diagnosed the problem to be an intermittent short between the coils that are molded into one unit. Roughly about $250.00 plus labor of about one hour and two months of waiting for the new coil to come from the factory in Germany. Now I have a great running R65LS. The bike is Silver and has not been repainted. I replaced the BMW logos on the tank and tail section. I recovered the seat with deer hide and it is very comfortable. It has the factory handle bar mounted plexiglass/windshield that was designed for this bike. Included is the tool kit and the Rider's Handbook which has never been used or marked up. I will include the old engine with this bike. I will gladly send pics per reque

1974 BMW R90/6 with S fairing
1974 BMW R90/6
Only year of the /6 bikes to have both the kickstart and an electric start. Also the only year to retain the beautiful earlier /5 hand controls. Equipped with an original S fairing that houses the optional voltmeter and clock. I have loved owning this bike and have looked after it accordingly. I change the oil once a month along with a valve adjustment, the carbs have been rebuilt and synchronized perfectly. I have a strong emotional attachment to this R90 but it's time to move on.
I swapped the long stem mirrors out for a single left side stubby version. It really cleans the lines up. The original BMW panniers are in great condition and show no sign of wear, all the clasps and attachements are in perfect working order. All the lights work as they should. This has got the desirable alluminium turn signals.
New grips and footpeg rubbers. The seat is showing age appropriate wear but it's too nice to have recovered. Fits two very comfortably, I've been up and down the coast with a passenger and luggage.
Mileage is just under 50,000 miles.
The original points system has been upgraded to a Dyna electronic ignition. New AGM sealed battery as of last week.

1976 BMW R90/6 in Durham NC
I bought a couple of years ago from son of original owner who loved and cared for this motorcycle. It is not a restored but a refreshed motorcycle with 77000 miles on the clock. Because it is in such great shape I tried to keep the bike as original as possible with few exceptions. It has a /7 seat in most excellent condition and a /7 tank relined and painted Saab Monte Carlo Yellow. The frame has been touched up where fairing was mounted on down tubes and swing arm repainted. Most of the hardware is original. I like the patina and in another 25 years or so the paint should tone down enough to match the rest of the bike. I polished the lower triple clamp, rear brake lever and arm and hand levers for a more refined look. I have put maybe 2000 miles on bike and most of the hard work done has just been done in the last couple of hundred miles. I am just not riding much anymore and selling this one to fund other projects.
Here's a list of new equipment and work done:
Brand new OEM clutch, ring,TO bearing and rear main seal, Brake pads front and rear, Push rod tubes resealed, Master cylinder and caliper rebuilt using OEM parts, Stainless brake line,Headset bearings, Forks rebuilt using BMW HD fork springs and OEM parts, Emgo mufflers, Rocker arm assemblies X4, Boyer electronic ignition, wires and spark plugs, Solid state voltage regulator, Mystic handlebar and grips, Mystic specific throttle and clutch cables, /7 gas cap,Fuel petcocks,Brown side stand powder coated, Seat latch, Center stand springs,Saddlebag locking latches replaced, Kathy's bag liners, Magnetic tank bag, Air and oil filters,Fluids changed, Battery box mounts
Not so new kit:
Japanese Panasonic battery from 2005 that refuses to die, Bridgestone Spitfires with about 1000 miles Koni rear shocks, Complete tool kit, Original shop rag, Original owners manual,Dual mud flaps
But wait there's more!
Also included is a complete R100RS fairing with EVERYTHING needed to install on a /6 or /7.
No broken tabs, All brackets including instrument, Stainless hardware, RS handlebar NLA,Brand new RS throttle and clutch cables, Brand new mirror mounts and excellent condition mirrorsVented windshield plus tall Luftmeister windshield, Voltmeter works but clock does notYellow paint does not match and is fair condition.
Will also include a never installed Rocky Point Cycle Stainless Steel hardware kit and a set of spokes. A $250 value!

1988 R100 with 66,500 miles
1988 R100RS Airhead converted to a R100 Standard bike. All of the original RS Fairings, wiring, handlebars... included.
New tires, air oil and fuel filters, fuel lines, motor oil, gear oils and brake fluid, carburetor needles and jets, speedo, clutch, accelerator and choke cables. Steering head bearings changed 6000 miles ago. "Progressive Suspension" rear shock and front fork springs installed 8000 miles ago. Runs very well with good even compression, and no oil leaks or smoke from exhaust. Two years ago, this bike proved itself by running well on two long trips, one to Northern CA and another to Colorado (5,000 miles total) and with all the recent service is ready to ride.
Partial list of improvements: Spiegler steel braided brake lines, Alpha electronic ignition, H.O. voltage regulator, Brown Side-stand, MRA windscreen, Cibie H4 headlight, Auto canceling turn signals, LED indicators, LED modulated running lights, LED turn signals and flashing high intensity LED brake lights.
Well maintained, modified and documented bike with detailed list available of all work done over the last 3 years. The title is listed as salvaged, likely due to the few hairline cracks and scuffs to the RS fairings which are still useable.
Ready to ride as is, or you can convert it back to RS configuration since all original parts and wiring has been retained and is included.

1974 R 75/6
A very nice 750 with 43k original. Very stock and well sorted. It has high bars, dual saddle and decent black paint. Plenty of original road wear. Very nice chrome andd aluminium. New parts include; mufflers, rider footpeg rubber, and BMW master cylinder. Tires are Bridgestone, one and two years old. It had a full service in December, including an engine reseal. The tank has been professionally relined and the guages have been rebiult. I ride to work when the weather is nice and have clocked 5-6 thousand miles in two years. Runs like a charm. A sweet ride. This would make an excellent first bike for someone looking for reliability, big bike capability, and a real attention getter. Pictures available. Thanks for looking.
