Exceptionally clean. Garaged. Engine rebuilt at 80,543 mi. from crank up by Joe Groeger, a machinist/BMW enthusiast from prewar Germany, at his shop in Redwood City, CA. Joe used a different engine block from a /2, so this is a rider’s bike, not a collectible.

I’m the 4th owner, all of us from CA which probably accounts for the superb condition of the bike, including the paint and chrome. Bike rides great, almost always starts on the first kick if you treat her right (and know the hot and cold techniques), and is a real attention getter. Maintained in Oregon by Murph’s BMW Service in Eugene.

The bike has Denfeld solo seats, the sport 6.25 gal. tank, rear luggage rack, side car lugs, new tires front and rear, tool kit and pump, and new magneto. I bought the bike in 1997 with 2,500 mi. on the rebuilt engine and have only ridden 8,500 mi.

Turned out that my wife didn’t enjoy riding and I didn’t want her to be a motorcycle widow, so not many miles. The bike currently resides at my home in Bend, OR, but I can deliver it to the S.F. Bay Area (where my wife currently receives her cancer treatments), or we can discuss shipping. Now you know the other reason for the sale.

Good condition, complete except for float bowl top screws.
Inlet throat area (where rubber boot attaches) is slightly "out of round".....not bad but you could carefully straighten it out. Jets checked all appropriate sizes for R50S. Will need usual rebuild.
